Our National Teams

The Māori Football Aotearoa national teams are more than football teams — they are a representation of whakapapa, identity, whānau and whenua. When our players pull on the Māori Football shirt, they carry with them the stories, strength and aspirations of those who came before them, while creating a pathway for those who will follow.

Our teams provide a platform for Māori footballers to represent Aotearoa and their whakapapa on the national and international stage, proudly expressing who they are through the beautiful game. They embody the values of manaakitanga, whanaungatanga, kaitiakitanga and tikanga Māori, recognising that success is measured not only by what happens on the field, but by the relationships, leadership and legacy created along the way.

Through competition at the highest level, our national teams create opportunities to showcase Māori talent, strengthen connections with Indigenous peoples around the Pacific, and demonstrate that Māori identity and excellence belong at every level of football.

We don’t simply wear the shirt. We carry its whakapapa, uphold its mana and leave a legacy for those yet to come.
